SALES OF FORD FUSION HYBRID, FUSION ENERGI SPIKE IN LOS ANGELES AS CONSUMERS SEEK EFFICIENT, FUN-TO-DRIVE EVS

  • Ford Fusion Energi retail sales jump 39 percent in Los Angeles in June; Fusion Hybrid retail sales in L.A. rise 35 percent in June
  • Overall Ford Fusion retail sales were up 20 percent in L.A. in June and 12 percent year-to-date
  • Fusion is Ford’s second-best-selling vehicle in L.A. and overall in North America, after the F-Series truck; after F-series, the Fusion is the best-selling vehicle to millennial buyers in Ford’s overall vehicle lineup
DEARBORN, Mich., July 25, 2016 – Ford Fusion electrified vehicle retail sales spiked in the Los Angeles market during the month of June, the first month of availability for the new 2017 model, as consumers remain charged up about the high-tech, efficient sedan with room for five.
Based on Ford June sales figures, Fusion Energi sales jumped nearly 40 percent in L.A. compared to June 2015. During the same time period, Fusion Hybrid sales jumped 35 percent. Both of these numbers are retail sales and do not include fleet sales.
By comparison, the total midsize sedan segment is down nearly 5 percent in L.A. through May, according to IHS Automotive data. Consumer demand for trucks and SUVs continues to rise in Los Angeles and across the country, but sales of the Ford Fusion Hybrid and Ford Fusion Energi plug-in are surging ahead.
“This significant growth for Ford’s midsize sedan should not be underestimated as Los Angeles is the largest car market in the United States,” said Wade Jackson, Ford Fusion marketing manager. “The spike in Fusion Hybrid and Energi sales is a testament to Ford’s advanced engineering team developing fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive electric vehicles offering customers the widest range of choice in the segment.”
The new 2017 Fusion Energi can travel 610 miles on a full tank of gas and battery charge – according to EPA estimates – the highest combined range of any plug-in hybrid sold in America.
Electrified Fusions becoming the new normalIn 2011, Fusion Hybrid represented 10 percent of new Fusion retail registrations in L.A. Through May of 2016, the most current data available, Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in represent 42 percent of new Fusion retail registrations in L.A., according to Ford analysis of new vehicle registration data from IHS Automotive, despite gasoline prices falling over the same period.
Overall sales of Fusion in L.A. are also bucking the trend in the midsize car segment, with sales up 20 percent in June and 12 percent year-to-date.
The L.A. region was the only region in America to hold consistent in midsize sedan sales last year. Almost one out of every 10 midsize sedans are sold in the L.A. region and since 2012, the Ford Fusion has doubled its sales and share there.
Reaching new customersAfter F-series, the Fusion is the best-selling vehicle to millennial buyers in Ford’s overall vehicle lineup and remains Ford’s best-selling car.
In addition, Fusion registrations to women are up 20 percent in California through May, compared to the same period in 2015, according to IHS Automotive personal new vehicle registration data.
To build on its success, Ford launched a new marketing campaign for Fusion earlier this month targeting key markets nationwide.
“We need to make sure buyers know about the best-in-class Fusion Energi driving range, but our new Fusion Sport and Fusion Platinum models give us a great shot at going after buyers who might not have ever owned a Ford,” Jackson said. “We’re pretty excited about our chances for more conquest buyers.”
The 2017 Ford Fusion Energi has an EPA-estimated rating of 43 city/41 hwy/42 combined MPG, a 14 gallon tank and 21 miles of all-electric range. Range calculation is based on www.fueleconomy.gov. The 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid has an EPA-estimated rating of 43 city/41 hwy/42 combined and a 13.5 gallon tank. Actual mileage and range will vary.

New Study Shows Top Concern for Breast Cancer Patients Is Maintaining Daily Routine, Second Only to Life Expectancy

  • Breast cancer patients are concerned with maintaining their daily routines; they need help with household chores and meal preparation, according to a new study by Ford Warriors in Pink
  • Warriors in Pink More Good Days initiative is launching additional support services to offer solutions to patients’ most pressing household needs through new collaborations with Green Chef and Cleaning for a Reason
  • Now 22 years strong, Ford Warriors in Pink continues to help in the fight against breast cancer, so far dedicating more than $130 million to the cause

DEARBORN, Mich., July 20, 2016 – In its ongoing efforts to support the fight against breast cancer, Ford Warriors in Pink recently commissioned a series of surveys seeking to identify the top concerns and day-to-day challenges of patients in treatment, as well as to examine the state of awareness of the disease among American adults today. The study was conducted as part of the Warriors in Pink More Good Days initiative.

Survey results indicate that maintaining their daily routines while going through treatment is a top concern of those battling breast cancer – second only to life expectancy. Activities patients say they need the most logistical help with include completing household chores, running errands and preparing balanced, healthful meals.

The study also reveals that few adults know how to provide the support patients need. While 98 percent acknowledge the serious health threat the disease presents, less than 60 percent are familiar with the day-to-day challenges those undergoing treatment face. Only 28 percent say they know how to best provide the support needed.

“What the results of the surveys tell us is that while most adults aren’t sure how to support these patients, the majority – 75 percent – want more information on how to help,” says Tracy Magee, Ford Warriors in Pink brand manager. “The insights give us an opportunity to build upon the resources we offer to ensure we respond to the needs of those undergoing treatment.

“Through our More Good Days initiative, we’re striving to equip people with the knowledge and resources they need to help,” adds Magee. “Ultimately, we want to give breast cancer patients what they deserve – more good days.”

Driving supportive actions

To date, Ford Warriors in Pink has granted more than 60,000 good day experiences – everything from free rides to treatment centers, to meal and errand scheduling – as part of its More Good Days initiative. Year two of the program aims to bring about even more good days by adding two new services in response to patients’ most pressing needs.

First, it’s working to help eliminate the hassle of grocery shopping and meal planning by collaborating with Green Chef – the first and leading national USDA-certified organic meal kit delivery service – to provide free organic meal kits to patients. To help alleviate another pressing daily concern patients have, Warriors in Pink is also working with the nonprofit Cleaning for a Reason to provide free assistance with household chores.

According to Michael Joseph, founder and chief executive officer, Green Chef, food has the power to nourish not just our bodies, but also our souls. “We’re looking forward to working with Warriors in Pink to help friends, family and caretakers provide healthy meals to the breast cancer patients in their lives,” he says. “Home-cooked, organic meals make total sense in terms of providing patients with a good day.”

Debbie Sardone, president and founder, Cleaning for a Reason, understands the importance of having help around the house for patients going through treatment. “Cleaning for a Reason has been providing home cleanings to cancer patients for the last 10 years,” she says. “We’re so excited to work with Ford Warriors in Pink to bring this service to even more patients.”

Ford Warriors in Pink will also offer free Jacki® recovery garments to those who have recently undergone mastectomy surgery through select treatment centers and on the Warriors in Pink website. It will also continue working with Meal Train – an online platform for organizing family and friends to provide meal deliveries, errand services, childcare, rides and more. More information about these services, as well as additional tips, tools and resources for providing good days, is available on www.fordcares.com.

Spreading more good days through Models of Courage

Ford is building upon its longstanding Models of Courage program, inaugurating a new class of warriors in six cities across the country. These real-life role models – over 100 women and men who have coped with breast cancer in inspiring ways – will help create more good days by taking direct action to support those battling the disease in their communities. 2016 Models of Courage are based in Atlanta, Seattle, Miami, New York, Denver and Chicago.

To instill hope and help patients face their battles, these Models of Courage will share their stories throughout the year at national and community events, as well as in Warriors in Pink communications. People are encouraged to join the conversation and share their personal stories and insights on social media using #MoreGoodDays.

Wear the warrior spirit

This month, Ford is introducing the 2016 Warriors in Pink collection of apparel and accessories to raise funds for breast cancer research and resources. New items include a vest, tunic, an adult coloring book and gold foil tattoos, along with best-selling favorites such as the annual women’s scarf, warrior T-shirt and tote bag. One hundred percent of net proceeds benefit The Pink Fund, Susan G. Komen, Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and Young Survival Coalition.

For more than 20 years, Ford Motor Company has worked to advance the conversation around breast cancer – fueling the spirit of those living with the disease while inspiring new generations of supporters. To date, Ford has dedicated more than $130 million to the cause.

All-New Ford F-Series Super Duty Leaves the Rest Behind; Raises Towing, Hauling, Engine Power to Next Level

  • Most capability: All-new F-Series Super Duty can tow heavier trailers and haul heavier cargo than ever before, with maximum gooseneck towing capacity raised to 32,500 pounds on F-450, fifth-wheel towing capacity boosted to class-leading 27,500 pounds and conventional towing to class-leading 21,000 pounds; maximum payload now rated at up to best-in-class 7,630 pounds
  • Most power: 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel boosts horsepower to a class-leading 440 and torque to a class-leading 925 lb.-ft. for all pickup models – from F-250 to F-450; 6.2-liter V8 gas model offers best-in-class torque of 430 lb.-ft.
  • Most confidence: Class-exclusive smart technologies help make towing easier and enable increased confidence, including BLIS® with trailer tow, adaptive cruise control that works with the heaviest trailers, and Trailer Reverse Guidance to help back trailers up

DEARBORN, Mich., July 18, 2016 – Ford, America’s truck leader, is taking heavy-duty trucks to the next level with the all-new 2017 F-Series Super Duty – empowering customers with the most towing and hauling capability and the most horsepower and torque of any heavy-duty pickup truck.

Super Duty’s enhanced capability starts with high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy and high-strength steel that help reduce weight by up to 350 pounds. Ford reinvested that weight savings in more robust components everywhere it counts to give customers more towing and hauling capability than ever before.

Foundational improvements for every Super Duty pickup truck include an all-new, fully boxed frame that is more than 95 percent high-strength steel and up to 24 times stiffer than the previous frame to support increased towing and hauling. The all-new high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body is more dent and ding resistant than the previous steel body.

“This is the best heavy-duty truck we’ve ever made,” says Doug Scott, Ford truck marketing manager. “We listened to our customers and created the toughest, smartest and most capable Super Duty ever.”

The future of towing is now

The 2017 Super Duty is the undisputed leader in towing, offering available best-in-class performance in all towing categories, plus smart technology no other competitor has to enable greater confidence when towing.

Ford F-450 Super Duty SuperCrew 4x4 now features a maximum gooseneck tow rating of 32,500 pounds – 1,290 pounds more than its nearest competitor, a regular cab two-door pickup. Maximum fifth-wheel towing is increased to 27,500 – 2,500 pounds better than the nearest competitor.

Maximum conventional towing is increased to 21,000 pounds – 1,000 pounds better than the nearest competitors’ trucks and without the need for a weight-distributing hitch. Maximum conventional towing with F-250, with the all-new trailer tow package, and F-350 single-rear wheel are increased to a class-leading 18,000 pounds.

Maximum gross combined weight rating for truck and trailer now tops out at a class-leading 41,800 pounds. That is more than half the maximum weight of an 18-wheeler semi-tractor trailer combination on most federal highways.

This industry-defining capability is matched by never-before-seen towing technology. Super Duty is the first truck to offer adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support for heavy trailers, allowing truckers to traverse steep mountain grades while maintaining speed – even with a trailer weighing 32,500 pounds.

A center high-mounted stop lamp camera provides visibility into the cargo box, which is especially helpful when hooking up gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers. An Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System uses four digital, high-definition cameras to give the driver a 360-degree bird’s-eye view surrounding Super Duty. Trailer Reverse Guidance provides visual cues and tips to help ease backing up a trailer. A first-ever factory-available trailer camera can be custom-placed on a trailer to improve visibility backing up.

Trailer towing customers benefit from a segment-first in-cab trailer tire pressure monitoring system, accessible from the comfort of the cab while stopped or on the highway. Blind Spot Information System with trailer tow is optimized for Super Duty to include the length of the trailer up to 33 feet long; BLIS® uses radar sensors in the taillamps to monitor areas that may not be visible to the driver.

Payload dominance

Super Duty can haul more than any other heavy-duty pickup. Maximum payload of the 2017 Ford Super Duty F-350 is 7,630 pounds – more than any competitor, period. F-250 Super Duty boasts the same dominance over its peers; with maximum payload of 4,200 pounds, it can haul more than 600 pounds over its nearest competitor.

More power than ever

The Ford-designed, Ford-engineered, Ford-built second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel that powers Super Duty now delivers a best-in-class combination of 440 horsepower and a staggering 925 lb.-ft. of torque. That power is standard for every Super Duty diesel pickup – from F-250 to F-450 – without requiring special tuning or unique hardware.

The standard 6.2-liter V8 now offers best-in-class torque among gasoline engines of 430 lb.-ft., with standard 385 horsepower.

Both diesel and gasoline engines are backed by the TorqShift six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission for reliable and efficient cross-country towing. The F-250 pickup with 6.2-liter V8 and all-new TorqShift-G six-speed automatic delivers improved fuel economy and capability for three-quarter-ton Super Duty customers.

Ford has redefined leadership in the heavy-duty pickup truck market, delivering never-before-seen productivity for today’s heavy-duty truck customer. The 2017 F-Series Super Duty is a purpose-built machine for getting work done faster, smarter and more efficiently. The all-new Super Duty goes on sale this fall.

Ford Reveals Most Race-Ready and Road-Legal "Ole Yeller" Mustang Inspired by Iconic P-51D Mustang Aircraft and Legendary Pilot

  • Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang bred from Shelby GT350® – the most track-ready and road-legal Mustang ever produced
  • Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang pays homage to the famous North American P-51D Mustang which served as the official pace and safety plane at the Reno National Championship Air Races
  • Bob Hoover, renowned United States Air Force fighter pilot and air show performer, piloted “Ole Yeller” for more than 20 years making more than 1,000 air show performances
  • Donation and sale will benefit EAA’s youth education programs, including Young Eagles
  • Unique Ford Mustangs have raised $3 million for EAA youth education programs, including Young Eagles

DEARBORN, Mich., July 15, 2016 – Ford Motor Company has created the most track-ready and road-legal Ford Mustang to benefit Experimental Aircraft Association’s youth education programs, including the Young Eagles. The aviation-inspired Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will be donated and sold via auction at the Gathering of Eagles charity event – the ninth straight year Ford has donated a car – on July 28 at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016, the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.

The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang features a custom yellow exterior finish with “Ole Yeller” accents and badging, unique carbon fiber components and mirrors projecting images of the aircraft. The interior incorporates specially designed Recaro seats, sill plates, floor mats with unique logos and aviation inspired gauges.

Bred from the ultra high-performance and limited production, Shelby GT350® Mustang, it features a 5.2L Ti-VCT V8 engine with Flat Plane Crank. Boasting the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine Ford has ever produced, the Shelby GT350 generates a heart-pounding 526 horsepower and exhilarating 429 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse is mated to a TREMEC® 6-speed manual transmission and features a specially tuned sport suspension, making it the most track-ready, road-legal Mustang ever produced.

“This year’s one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang honors two aviation greats, the iconic and historic P-51D Mustang fighter plane, and highly decorated fighter pilot, test pilot, and air show performer, Bob Hoover, who is referred to by many as one of the greatest pilots ever to have lived,” said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors. “The Shelby GT350 Mustang, with its nimbleness, speed and aerodynamics, provided us with the perfect platform to create this tribute to the P-51D aircraft.”

“Ole Yeller,” with its bright, eye-catching yellow exterior, is one of the most recognizable P-51D Mustangs in the world. It still holds the prop plane record for coast-to-coast travel at 5 hours and 20 minutes, set in 1985. R. A. “Bob” Hoover, known as a pilot’s pilot, will be forever linked with “Ole Yeller.” Hoover is widely considered the founding father of modern aerobatics and thrilled airshow fans piloting “Ole Yeller” for more than 20 years.  In 1997, Hoover sold "Ole Yeller" to his good friend John Bagley of Rexburg, Idaho. "Ole Yeller" still flies frequently and is based at the Legacy Flight Museum in Rexburg, Idaho.

The auction of the Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will be the pinnacle of the EAA Gathering of Eagles gala. The event annually draws more than 1,000 aviation enthusiasts in support of EAA’s youth education programs, which inspire young people to become engineers, aviators, astronauts, scientists and innovators – the aviation pioneers of tomorrow.

All proceeds from the sale of the car will benefit EAA’s youth education programs, including the Young Eagles, which has provided free introductory flights to 2 million young people since 1992, helping grow the next generation of aviators.

“We’re truly grateful Ford is, and has been, such a committed sponsor of EAA and AirVenture for more than 16 years now,” said Jack Pelton, EAA CEO and chairman of the board. “With its ninth Mustang donation, Ford has definitely delivered something exceptional that any auto or aviation enthusiast would love to own. The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will allow EAA to provide support to our valuable programs helping us grow the next generation of aviators.”

The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang joins eight other one-of-a-kind Mustangs created by the Ford design and engineering teams for the auction in support of EAA youth education. Ford vehicles donated at EAA AirVenture events have collectively raised $3 million.

Previous years’ unique aviation themed Mustangs created to support EAA’s youth education programs, including Young Eagles, were:

  • 2008 – Mustang AV8R, with cues from F-22 Raptor, which helped introduce the glass-roof canopy and delivered an auction contribution of $500,000
  • 2009 – AV-X10 “Dearborn Doll” Mustang, crafted in honor of the World War II aircraft
  • 2010 – Two automotive icons – the late Carroll Shelby, former U.S. Air Force flight instructor, and Jack Roush, longtime P-51 pilot – collaborated for the first time to create the SR-71 Blackbird Mustang inspired by the legendary reconnaissance jet
  • 2011 – Blue Angels Mustang, created to celebrate 100 years of U.S. naval aviation
  • 2012 – Red Tails Mustang, to pay homage to Tuskegee Airmen – courageous squadron of P-51 Mustang pilots who were the United States’ first African-American military airmen
  • 2013 – U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang, built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team
  • 2014 – F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang, which featured design cues from the world’s most advanced multirole fighter jet – the F-35 Lightning
  • 2015 – Apollo Edition Mustang paid homage to the Apollo spaceflight program, which delivered astonishing innovations in technology and landed the first human on the moon.

The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will proudly be on display all week in the Ford hangar at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016. To participate in the auction, interested parties must prequalify by contacting the EAA development office at (800) 236-1025 or donor@eaa.org.

The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang exterior and interior were designed by Ford Design Manager Melvin Betancourt. Interior enhancements were supported by Ford Designer Nicole Rush and the Ford design fabrication team. The custom modifications were performed by MAD Industries, led by Chris Mangum. Additional contributors to the project include Ford Performance, Brembo, Carbon 2 Carbon, BASF Refinish, Pirelli Tires, Diode Dynamics, Rigid Industries LED Lighting, sPOD Power Distribution & Switching Components, 3M Window Films, PIAA, APR Performance, Rosen Electronics, FOCAL/The Source AV, Odyssey Battery, Recaro, Northern Engraving, Miko, American & Efird, Takata Holdings, Inc., Forgiato Wheels, Coverkings, L&G Enterprises and Signature Performance Tire & Wheel.

Adaptive cruise control can engage trailer brakesDrivers can set cruise control at a comfortable following distance using Super Duty’s adaptive cruise control. The feature uses radar to measure the distance and speed of vehicles ahead, then automatically slows truck and trailer to maintain that preset distance at speeds above 20 mph.
Adaptive cruise control with Super Duty’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel engine uses the engine brake to smartly assist drivers towing heavy trailers, allowing truckers to traverse steep mountain grades while maintaining speed – even with a trailer weighing more than 31,500 pounds.
“Towing is core to the Super Duty mission, and drivers will appreciate the engineering sophistication that enables adaptive cruise control to determine speed uphill and downhill with a trailer,” says Craig Schmatz, Ford Super Duty chief engineer. “We have torture-tested the technology in high elevations and on significant grades at places like Davis Dam in Arizona, Loveland Pass in Colorado and the mountain roads surrounding Beckley, West Virginia.”
A number of systems work in tandem to enable adaptive cruise control – including powertrain control, trailer brake control and the anti-lock brake system. Speed is further controlled on descents with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine’s integrated engine brake, which is enabled with the push of a button. Extra engine braking power helps reduce wear and tear on wheel brakes – especially on downhill grades.
Adaptive cruise control is optional on Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum Super Duty pickups, including the mighty Ford F-450 Super Duty, Ford’s most capable pickup.
Adaptive steering enhances maneuverabilityAnother class-exclusive feature – adaptive steering – helps give Super Duty drivers more confidence to maneuver tight work sites and parking lots.
Adaptive steering is a new generation of power steering technology that reduces the amount of steering input needed to change direction at low speeds. It also reduces sensitivity to steering input necessary at higher speeds and helps make towing the heaviest of loads easier.
The technology changes the ratio between the driver’s actions at the steering wheel – the number of turns – and how much the front wheels turn. Vehicles without the technology have a fixed ratio, but with adaptive steering, the ratio continually changes with vehicle speed, optimizing steering response in all conditions. Housed entirely within the steering wheel, the precision-controlled actuator – an electric motor and gearing system – can add to or subtract from a driver’s inputs. The result is a more connected, engaging driving experience at all speeds.
Even more smart technologiesBLIS with trailer coverage is another Super Duty class-exclusive feature. It uses radar hidden in the taillights to detect a vehicle entering a driver’s blind spot while driving or backing up, and alerts the driver with a yellow light in the sideview mirror. For Super Duty, BLIS can extend to the back of the trailer, helping to make the driver aware of vehicles entering the trailer’s blind spot.
Another driver-assist technology, lane-departure warning, vibrates the steering wheel to mimic rumble strips when the driver begins to drift over a lane marker.
The all-new Super Duty will be built at Kentucky Truck Plant. It goes on sale late this year.

F-150 Lariat

  • All-new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine in the 2017 Ford F-150 produces 375 horsepower and a segment-best 470 lb.-ft. of torque, a gain of 10 hp and 50 lb.-ft. from previous 3.5-liter EcoBoost
  • Class-leading torque of 3.5-liter EcoBoost  and new 10-speed automatic transmission will deliver improved acceleration and performance
  • 3.5-liter EcoBoost paired exclusively with the first volume-production 10-speed automatic transmission available from any automaker
DEARBORN, Mich., July 11, 2016 – Ford, America’s truck leader, continues its relentless pace of innovation, delivering segment-leading torque for 2017 F-150 customers with the all-new 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission.
The new second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine will provide 50 lb.-ft. more peak torque compared with the first-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, to a segment-best 470 lb.-ft., beating all diesel- and gasoline-powered competitors, including V8 engines with nearly twice the displacement of the EcoBoost V6. Horsepower jumps 10 from the previous version, to 375 hp.
“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”
The 3.5-liter EcoBoost in the 2017 F-150 is paired exclusively with the first volume-production 10-speed automatic transmission available to consumers from any automaker.
The more capable powertrain combination will deliver improved acceleration and performance compared with previous six-speed automatic transmissions. The new engine provides better low-end and peak engine performance, ideal for hauling heavy payloads and towing heavy trailers.
The new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine builds on the success of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine and first-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine available for the 2016 F-150. The 2.7-liter and first-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines account for approximately 60 percent of F-150 sales.
The Ford F-150 remains the first and only truck in its segment to offer a twin-turbo gasoline engine.
The 2017 Ford F-150 goes on sale this fall.

FORD GT COLOR, MATERIAL CHOICES ARE INTENTIONAL, PURPOSEFUL; CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS ALLOW OWNER'S PERSONALITY TO SHINE

Ford GT Brake Calipers

  • Colors and materials have been strategically chosen and placed in Ford GT to further define the high-performance character of the all-new supercar
  • Use of color highlights the innovative details found throughout Ford GT; Brembo brake calipers are available in five colors for the first time at Ford, while different coating options for carbon fiber components offer customers decidedly distinctive looks
  • Exterior palette offers bright, vivid colors that transcend time and pay homage to Ford’s racing heritage, including luscious Liquid Blue, which debuted to much acclaim at the 2015 North American International Auto Show
DEARBORN, Mich., July 6, 2016 – The innovation and technology showcased in the design of the Ford GT is mirrored in the color and material choices for the all-new supercar.
Ford designers used color strategically throughout to highlight areas of innovation and to enhance the aesthetic of efficiency and performance.
“We walked a fine line with the color and materials in this vehicle – infusing energy through use of color and balance while working to ensure the raw appeal of a performance car still shines through,” says Barb Whalen, Ford design manager, color and materials. “Everything in the all-new Ford GT was intentionally designed to express ultimate performance.”
The application of carbon fiber – traditionally used as a decorative element in performance vehicles – is employed as a structural component in the Ford GT, and serves as a visual anchor of the supercar’s lightweight construction.
In the cabin, carbon fiber is visible across the instrument panel, while different top coating options for the exterior allow customers to choose from gloss, matte or Shadow Black paint to cover the exposed carbon fiber trim. The options provide for a more personalized look and feel to the car – whether the customer is looking to express a pure appreciation for racing, a solid performance aesthetic or a more aggressive attitude in general.
For the first time at Ford, color combinations include customizable Brembo brake calipers. In addition to the standard six-piston, monobloc anodized black calipers with carbon ceramic rotors, upgrades include Silver, Blue, Orange and Red.
Ford GT’s carbon ceramic discs are exceptionally lightweight – more than 50 percent lighter than similar cast-iron ones. The brake system – which derives its technology from the application of carbon in Formula One brake discs – is designed for low fluid displacement, which improves pedal feel and stiffness. The integrated cooling system has been optimized by Ford and Brembo to perform brilliantly under various conditions.
“The all-new Ford GT represents the pinnacle American supercar,” says Dan Sandberg, president and CEO, Brembo North America. “Likewise, the exceedingly high standards and innovative technology incorporated into our high-performance Brembo brake system will only add to the overall driving enjoyment.”
Throughout the interior, color is used sparingly, subtly making its way onto the car’s seat backs – a feature visible from the outside. On the passenger side, a matching hue on the two-tier instrument panel creates a visual balance in the tight cabin upon opening the door.
The cabin’s satin finishes and colors intensify as they move toward the passenger side of the car – helping to minimize distraction for the driver.
Form follows function in the all-new supercar, with no detail overlooked by the designers. The horizontal ribbing on the seats, for example, adds visual width to a narrow space, while the Alcantara® fabric covering was chosen both for its upscale feel and lighter weight.
Suggested color combinations and themes are available to coordinate interior and exterior hues, brake calipers and racing stripes. The exterior palette offers eight bright colors – a nod to Ford’s racing heritage. One of these is luscious Liquid Blue, a color that debuted to much buzz at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
“These colors aren’t trendy, because Ford GT isn’t a trendy car,” says Whalen. “It is a classic – a veritable race car for the road.”
