Protecting the Great Lakes of America | Go Further | Ford

Ford owner Jeff Guy and four friends decided it was time to stand up for the health and preservation of the Great Lakes they love. So they took to their stand-up paddleboards.

By being the first ever to make the 60-mile trek across Lake Michigan, this team of paddleboarders was able to go even further by bringing awareness to all the environmental issues that plague the Great Lakes, and, to date, raise almost $8,000 to help benefit Alliance for the Great Lakes, a nonprofit that’s dedicated to cleaning up the pollution in our lakes and preserving them for future generations.

ALL-NEW FORD F-150 RAPTOR NAMED AUTOGUIDE.COM'S TRUCK OF THE YEAR

DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 17, 2017 – Add yet another trophy to the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor showcase. The all-new Raptor crushed the competition in the California desert to earn AutoGuide.com’s Pickup Truck of the Year. Earlier this year, Raptor took home Best Pickup Truck of 2017 honors from Cars.com and the Four Wheeler Pickup Truck of the Year award.
“The 2017 Raptor is the whole package. It’s not just suspension or just appearance. Ford left no stone unturned with this purpose-built Baja runner, and it shows,” said Stephen Elmer, AutoGuide.com trucks editor. “While each truck in this year's competition brings something to the table, the Raptor feels truly special, managing to provide a truck that is capable, intelligent, and most of all, a riotous amount of fun.”
In earning the AutoGuide.com award, the F-150 Raptor won over the judges during testing in Barstow, Calif., where they praised the  Raptor’s innovation, overall driving experience and value for the money.
The purpose-built, off-road F-150 Raptor builds on the success of its predecessor with performance gains and new technology that didn’t go unnoticed by AutoGuide.com reviewers. With a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine generating 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque, segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission, a six-mode Terrain Management System,™  and a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body that saves 500 pounds over the previous model, the all-new Raptor stands alone among high-performance off-road trucks.
The 2017 F-150 Raptor’s competition-proven chassis also sets the performance bar with its second-generation BF Goodrich KO2 tires designed exclusively for the truck’s extended off-road capabilities. In addition, upgraded FOX Shocks (jointly engineered by Ford Performance and FOX) are 44 percent larger with 3-inch diameter shock canisters (2.5-inch previously) and nine-stage bypass damping delivering improved suspension control. The new shock design enables an increase in suspension travel to 13-inches at the front and 13.9-inches at the rear (a 0.8-inch front and 1.9-inch rear increase in wheel travel compared to its predecessor).

F-150 DEPENDABILITY AWARD UNDERSCORES BUILT FORD TOUGH

  • F-150 builds on its renowned toughness as truck is recognized for top dependability among large light duty pickup pickups in the J.D. Power 2017 Vehicle Dependability Study
  • Truck shoppers prioritize F-150 quality above all other attributes, and consistently say it is a differentiator, according to internal Ford research
  • 2017 marks 40 consecutive years for Ford F-Series as top-selling truck in America

DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 22, 2017 – American truck owners who value Built Ford Tough pickups are taking in some more great news today: Ford F-150 is J.D. Power’s 2017 Vehicle Dependability Study award recipient for large light duty pickup.

“All customers demand quality vehicles, and truck customers depend on toughness and reliability most of all,” said Bennie Fowler, Ford group vice president for quality. “That’s why Built Ford Tough is much more than a slogan. It’s how we develop the F-150 and how we deliver on our promise to customers to continuously improve America’s favorite pickup truck.”

In January, Ford celebrated a major milestone as F-Series became the top-selling truck in the United States for the 40th consecutive year and the best-selling vehicle for 35 years. Ford has sold more than 26 million F-Series trucks since January 1977.

Ford research shows F-150’s dependability – paired with its capability and toughness – is a key differentiator for the truck over the competition. Truck shoppers say they prioritize a pickup truck’s quality above all other attributes.

In addition to F-150 ranking highest among large light duty pickups, Ford takes home second most-improved brand in a tie in the annual J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study released today.

The Saviors of Honeybees | Go Further | Ford

Honeybees are responsible for $15 billion in U.S. agriculture crops each year, and pollinate 80% of the world’s plants.

What’s alarming is beekeepers are losing up to 50% of their hives every year, often vanishing without a trace or explanation. For Ford owners Rob and Chelsea McFarland, keeping these bees buzzing has become a passion, and they’re turning the city of Los Angeles into an unlikely urban beekeeping haven through community outreach, education and, of course, a few beehives of their own.

All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Named 2017 Four Wheeler Truck of the Year

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 31, 2017 – Add another trophy to the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor showcase. The all-new Raptor topped a seven-vehicle field to be named 2017 FOUR WHEELER Pickup Truck of the Year. Earlier this month, Raptor took home Best Pickup Truck of 2017 honors from Cars.com.

“The all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is the truck equivalent of an amusement park thrill ride,” said Ken Brubaker, FOUR WHEELER editor. “Compared to its predecessor, which also had a very commanding stance, the new Raptor has more ground clearance and a significantly wider track that makes it look incredibly aggressive. The excitement continues when you fire up the high-output twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and stab the throttle.”

In earning the FOUR WHEELER award, the F-150 Raptor scored high marks in weeklong testing that challenged the truck to harsh conditions including sand, rocky trails and snow covering about 1,000 miles of off-road terrain. Raptor also scored high in track testing in Southern California, with its high-output EcoBoost® V6 propelling the truck to best-in-field 0-to-60-mph and quarter-mile times.

The purpose-built, off-road Raptor builds on the success of its predecessor with performance gains and new technology that didn’t go unnoticed by FOUR WHEELER judges. With a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine generating 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque, first-in-class 10-speed transmission, a six-mode Terrain Management System,™ and a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body that saves 500 pounds over the previous model, the all-new F-150 Raptor stands alone among high-performance off-road trucks.

Smart Engineering Earns All-New Ford F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4X2 Five-Star Overall Government Crash Rating

  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awards 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x2 with a five-star overall vehicle score in its New Car Assessment Program – the highest possible rating – making this all-new truck the safest Super Duty ever
  • Frontal driver rating improves to five stars; side crash ratings for front and rear remain five stars
  • Safety starts with Super Duty’s backbone – a fully boxed frame that is 95 percent high-strength steel; and its segment-exclusive high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 30, 2017 – The 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x2’s smart engineering has earned the all-new truck the government’s highest possible crash rating of five stars – adding safety to its strengths as the toughest, smartest, most capable Super Duty ever.

The 2017 F-Series Super Duty is the only heavy-duty pickup truck to earn National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s highest safety rating.

Thanks to its robust design, advanced materials and safety features developed by the Ford truck team, the 2017 model earns a five-star overall vehicle score in the agency’s New Car Assessment Program, as well as a five-star rating for frontal driver crash tests. Side crash ratings for front and rear remain five stars.

Super Duty’s improved performance is enabled by weight savings of up to 350 pounds through the use of high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy in the body and box. This leads to more local frame stiffness at strategic locations to deliver considerable improvement in occupant protection. The weight savings is then reinvested into an all-new fully boxed frame that is more than 95 percent high-strength steel and up to 24 times stiffer than the previous frame.

But Ford didn’t stop with the truck’s body and frame – Super Duty sets a new level of technology availability for the segment. Options such as 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation, lane-keeping alert and inflatable seatbelts help the driver to have more confidence and control while towing and hauling heavy loads from job site to job site.
