Ford Motor Company Contributes to Robin Hood's "Night for NYC" by Donating Transit Van to NY Common Pantry


NEW YORK CITY, May 9, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is joining with Robin Hood’s “Night for NYC” in the fight against poverty by donating a Ford Transit Mobile Food Pantry van to New York Common Pantry.

The Transit van will allow New York Common Pantry to expand Nourish, a Commodity Supplemental Food Program funded by the New York State Department of Health and U.S. Department of Agriculture, which delivers food to low income senior citizens. The Transit’s size and flexibility will enable the agency to reach neighborhoods not accessible by larger delivery vehicles.

“Ford Motor Company has been making people’s lives better for more than 100 years — not only by building great vehicles, but also through investing in communities,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “We are proud to assist New York Common Pantry as they expand their work fighting hunger across New York City.”

Ford Mobile Food Pantries are a national network of more than 50 Transit vans that make it easier for food banks to deliver more meals to more places.
