Refilling your washer fluid and swapping out wiper blades (http://ford.to/1B3DWKq) might seem like a challenge, but we think you’re up for it. That’s why we teamed up with Unbox Therapy to show you just how easy it can be to identify the washer fluid reservoir, top it off, and quickly swap out your wiper blades, using a Ford Escape with available rain-sensing wipers. When filling your wiper fluid, it’s important to remember a few key tips:
• Park your vehicle on a level surface, and set the parking brake.
• Roll up or remove loose clothing, and keep your arms away from the cooling fan(s) when checking the washer fluid—fans can turn on automatically, even when the engine is off.
• Only put windshield washer fluid in the washer fluid reservoir. Other vehicle fluids can damage your wiper/washer system.
• Don’t use water in the washer fluid reservoir. If it freezes, it can clog and damage the reservoir and hoses.
• In extremely cold weather, use low-temperature washer fluid. And don’t fill the reservoir all the way.
Once you’ve taken care of those steps, simply open your hood and find your washer fluid reservoir—it’s usually a white, translucent container with a windshield/water symbol on the cap. (Note: If your vehicle has a rear wiper, there may be a second reservoir for it as well.)
