Encourage your kids to step into the shoes of an engineer by building a fun DIY electric motor car.
Supplies:
Foam core, hot glue gun, scissors, straws (2x), wooden skewers (2x), spacers (4x), wheels (4x), pulley engine, switch, 9v battery
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1) Build The Body:
• Cut two straws to be a an inch longer than the width of the foam core body
• Hot glue the cut straws to the foam core body
• Insert the wooden skewers through the straws
• Add a spacer to the end of each wooden skewer
• Add a wheel onto the end of each wooden skewer
2) Build The Engine:
• Hot glue the 9v battery to the body
• Hot glue the switch to the body
• Hot glue the engine so the gear and pulley align
3) Connect Them Together:
• Connect the battery wire to the engine wire
• Connect the engine wire to the switch wire
• Connect the switch to the battery wire
• Add caps onto the wire ends to hold them in place
• Loop a rubber band around the motor wheel and the wheel aligned next to it
